Ouimet Directors and Trustees—

I hope you are having a great start to your week. Below are a couple updates and action items for the next few weeks as we prepare for the end of the Ouimet Fund’s fiscal year (3/31).

Silent Auction Returns:

For the past few springs, our online golf auction has been a significant piece of our annual budget for scholarships. Last year’s auction lineup, with your help, raised more than $140,000! Thomas Murphy will again be heading up this initiative, working with our partner Golden Age Auctions. Our goal is to, again, feature the best roster of national and local rounds in the country! You are in a position to directly assist this in two ways:

  1. Personally contribute a group to be auctioned by hosting three guests at your course(s) on a mutually agreeable date in 2022.
  2. Leverage connections you have to members of other courses, perhaps exclusive or unique national privates, who would host three guests on a mutually agreeable date in 2022.

Please note: We are refraining from soliciting most local club GMs or Pros for this program. Donations from your club itself are something that always requires a careful case-by-case conversation with our Club Relations team and may not be the best fit for this program. This ask would be for your own contribution or that of a member friend somewhere.

Also note: This will again be considered part of your overall Director/Trustee “impact” and you will receive an official tax-deductible acknowledgment from The Fund for the value contributed.

Please let us know if you can participate or have any questions as we would like to begin finalizing our roster of courses by March 15. Thank you again!

Alumni Reception:

We are excited to offer our next Ouimet networking reception at The Local in Waltham. From 5 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, we will have a welcomed opportunity for Alumni, graduating Seniors, and donors to get together as we look ahead to spring. If you’d like to RSVP, please click here, as space is limited for attendance. Hope to see you there!

Full Board of Directors Meeting:

For Directors, this is another reminder of a full Board meeting on Wednesday, March 16 at 5:00 pm. The in-person location or Zoom link is TBD and will be determined shortly, but we look forward to, among other items, a proposal on the budget for the scholarship level in September! Stay tuned.

Spring Newsletter:

In the next few weeks, our latest Legacy newsletter will be arriving on doorsteps and inboxes. Here is your sneak preview of the printed spring issue featuring interviews MaryKate conducted with past Banquet student speakers and some other Alumni! As always, feel free to share the link with others or request additional hard copies.

Passing of Bill Cunningham:

A friend to several on this email and a fellow Ouimet Fund board member to many (2003 to 2007) passed away last week, surrounded by his family.  Bill was a big personality with an even bigger heart who, along with Dick Connolly, Charlie Fox, Ted Hansberry, Ted Highberger and countless others, spearheaded the early years of our Spirit of Golf outings which helped create five endowed scholarships and introduced us to many new generous friends of the Ouimet Fund.  He will be missed and you can read more on Bill here.

Thank you and have a great week,

Colin
