It is with deep sadness that we remember the late Bill Paxton. The very popular actor served as the director of the 2005 Disney movie, The Greatest Game Ever Played. He was also one of the special guests/speakers at The Fund’s 2013 Centennial Banquet.

Ouimet Fund Executive Director Bob Donovan reflected on Mr. Paxton’s passing:

“Bill was a great friend of the Ouimet Fund and a thoroughly charming and engaging personality. We first got to know him when he visited the museum in 2004 to learn all he could about Mr. Ouimet and also to scout potential Boston area sites for the movie. He had grown up in Fort Worth near Shady Oaks, and had shagged for Ben Hogan when he was a kid and was thrilled to do this movie. He added many special touches to bring the action to life. Bill was with us at the premiere, and also spoke about the movie at our Centennial Gala and, again, the next morning at a special breakfast we had for top sponsors at The Country Club. He will be greatly missed,” said Donovan.
