This summer, dozens of Scholars participated in various Ouimet programs and events: participating in the Dale Carnegie course, scorekeeping in the NFL Alumni Classic, playing in the Golf Marathon and caddying in the Deutsche Bank Championship Pro-Am. Scholar Richard Citrano (Bentley University ’18) was unable to get involved in these programs as he was working at a full-time summer internship with Natixis Global Asset Management.
Richard, a long-time employee at Bear Hill GC in Stoneham, wanted to find a way to give back to The Fund, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. With a few of his high school golf teammates, he organized a glow-in-the-dark golf tournament using glow balls for members at BHCC. “I decided to make it a Ouimet Scholarship Awareness tournament because not that many people at Bear Hill know what the scholarship is and how helpful it is to college students, like myself,” Richard said.
With less than one month’s notice, Richard and his friends were able to make a full field of 45 golfers (nine five-somes) to play a 6-hole scramble from 10:00PM – midnight. The event was a big hit at Bear Hill, raising $1,000 for the Ouimet Fund.
Thank you to Rich and everyone at Bear Hill GC for the fantastic support! To create your own event or campaign benefitting The Fund, please check out our Team Ouimet page!
