The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund has announced that it will be increasing its annual scholarship awards by $100,000 in 2016 – 2017 to $1.8 Million. It will be the second straight year The Fund has increased awards by $100,000.
“We are delighted to make this announcement and very proud to be able to give more help to our scholars,” said Gregory Gailius, Ouimet Fund President. “This is another great product of our recently completed Centennial Campaign. We exceeded our goal of $5 Million, much of it in new permanently endowed scholarships. But, while we are delighted with our progress, we know that we need to be even more diligent in our fund raising as we must meet the needs of a 44% increase in applications the last two years. ”
Mr. Gailius went on to express his thanks to the clubs who supported the Centennial Bag Tag Program, the many donors and sponsors of various Ouimet events, the creators of endowed scholarships that now fund 32% of annual awards, and the great efforts of the Ouimet Board.
In 2015 – 2016, the Fund awarded $1.7 Million annually to 300 financial Scholars. Through the recently completed academic year, the Ouimet Fund has awarded nearly $30 Million to 5,500 Scholars since its inception in 1949.
