The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund sadly reports the passing of Richard J. “Dick” Ganong on December 14, 2014. He has suffered with Melanoma and fought it bravely for several years. Dick was a very proud Ouimet Alum who caddied starting at age 11 at Brae Burn CC. He went on to play golf at Boston College and had a distinguished career in financial
services. He was a member of the Ouimet Board of Directors for 18 years (1991 – 2009) and Alumni Chair for ten years, and served on several other committees. Dick was also a long-time MGA Executive Committee member and rules official. His family established the Richard J. Ganong Scholarship in his honor 2003. He was a member at Wellesley CC. Dick holds a special place in Ouimet history as it was his suggestion that we honor Former President George H.W. Bush at our 2002 Banquet and the event drew 1,700 attendees.
Visiting hours will be held this Thursday, December 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home on 477 Washington Street in Wellesley.
