Nick Price, winner of three major championships, twice leading money winner, three-time Captain of the Presidents Cup International team and a Golf Hall of Fame member will be the guest speaker and honored with the 20th Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Contributions to Golf at the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund’s 66th Annual Banquet. The Banquet, which has become the largest annual golf dinner in America, is scheduled for Monday, March 13 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The Connolly Group – Morgan Stanley will again be the Presenting Sponsor.
“We are thrilled to have Nick Price as our 2017 honoree. He has an amazing record and is certainly one of the top players of the past 25 years. He has also become highly respected with his work with the Presidents Cup and is also known as one of the nicest people in the game,” said Greg Gailius, Ouimet Fund President.
Mr. Gailius went on to describe the great history of the Banquet and its awardees that have included the late Arnold Palmer, Former President George H.W. Bush, Peter Jacobsen, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Mark O’Meara, Gary Player, Annika Sorenstam and Tom Lehman. Mr. Price has a tremendous record, including having won three majors – the 1992 and 1994 PGA Championships and the 1994 British Open title. Altogether, he won 18 times on the PGA TOUR, was leading money winner twice, was ranked #1 in the world for 43 weeks, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2003. He currently plays on the Champions Tour, where he has won four times.
He has played in the Presidents Cup five times and was Captain of the International team in 2013 and 2015, and will serve again in that role next year.
Renowned for his graciousness, he has been honored with the USGA’s Bob Jones Award for Distinguished Sportsmanship along with the Payne Stewart and Byron Nelson Awards.
