The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund awarded its 2013 Ouimet Chair of the Year Award to Jim Moriarty of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. The presentation was made at The Fund’s 65th Annual Meeting at Woodland Golf Club on October 21, 2013.

Mr. Moriarty has been the Ouimet Chair at Mt. Pleasant for many years. A Ouimet Scholarship Alumnus, Jim caddied at Vesper Country Club and graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Today, Jim serves in his role at Mt. Pleasant and has upgraded their Ouimet support greatly over the years. He also acts as a regional liaison for the Ouimet Fund, meeting frequently with club boards on the North Shore on the merits of supporting the Bag Tag program and promoting caddie programs. He is a member of the Ouimet Fund’s scholarship committee and annually serves as Ouimet head interviewer for North Shore interviews. In 2000, he worked with longtime Vesper Ouimet Chair Bob Mongeau to run a fundraising tournament that created the Bill King endowed scholarship. He has also been a member of the Ouimet Board of Directors since 2002. He is Vice President of Enterprise Bank in Lowell.

“Jim has been a great representative of the Ouimet Fund in many ways over the years. He is the epitome of a loyal alum, giving back, promoting scholarship applicants, and always helping The Fund in any way he can at his club and at clubs throughout the region. This award is a small way of saying thanks for all his help,” said Terry Kennedy, Ouimet Fund President.
