On Monday, June 11th, the Francis Ouimet Society enjoyed a gorgeous day on the links at one of the best courses the Cape has to offer. 104 society members, banquet sponsors and guests traveled to Osterville, MA for a day at Oyster Harbors Club, one of The Fund’s most loyal supporters.
Guests arriving at the club were first welcomed by a large white windmill at the gate house, a well-known Oyster Harbors fixture. The friendly staff greeted players at the pro shop and then directed up to registration and lunch. A beautiful buffet awaited the players in the Grand Island Room in the main clubhouse and most took their food outside to enjoy the sun and ocean views.
One o’clock came around and off they went! Many enjoyed a beautiful stroll throughout the day with caddies. Great weather, great golf course, great company – a wonderful day was had by all!
As the golf shop staff was tallying up the scorecards all enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner. Colin McGuire, The Fund’s Assistant Executive Director started off the speaking program by thanking the Oyster Harbors staff and all in attendance for the constant support they give to The Fund. Ouimet Fund President, Dick Reilly and Ouimet Society President, Todd Wetzel, updated the crowd with exciting Ouimet news and recognized new lifetime members. Ouimet Scholar, Marta Hennigan, was the student speaker for the evening and spoke about her college experience at Montreat College. Hennigan was a caddie for more than five years at Cape Cod National and spoke of the many life lessons she learned from co-workers and members.
The Ouimet Fund would like to thank everyone at Oyster Harbors Club for a beautiful day of golf! Special thanks goes out to Head Professionals Sean Edmonds and Assistant Professional Matt Baran, GM Douglas Mayo, and Clubhouse Manager Adrienne Carlton. We would also like to thank Ouimet Chairman, Richard Stimets for leading the charge as Ouimet Chairman at Oyster Harbors, one of our most supportive clubs since 1949!
