The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund

Re-Applicants

Welcome Ouimet Scholars! Below are answers to some of your most common questions:

1. I am a current Ouimet Scholar. Do I need to apply again for next year?
Yes, by completing a short re-application form that is automatically mailed to all current Scholars in late winter/early spring and filing both of the required financial aid forms.

2. As a current Ouimet Scholar, do I have specific deadlines to meet?
Yes. Your brief re-application, official transcript indicating a cumulative GPA, FAFSA, CSS/Profile and FAL (Financial Aid Letter) must be received by June 30.

3. What if I don't have all the documentation I need by the June 30 deadline? Should I hold my paperwork and mail everything in together?
No! Mail in what you have with a written note stating what is missing and why, or you can e-mail us what paperwork will be missing and when you anticipate you will have it.

4. I am a re-applicant and completed financial aid forms when I first applied. Do I have to complete them again?
Yes. All current scholars reapplying and seeking a financial award must complete both the FAFSA and CSS/Profile each year.

FAFSA: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

CSS/Profile: http://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp

5. What is the scholarship process?
The process begins with the request of an application in mid-summer. The application as well as three club recommendations, guidance counselor recommendation, transcript and SAT scores are due by 12/1. Financial aid forms are also required, just as they are for applying for college financial aid. Interviews are conducted of every new applicant during the winter, spring and/or early summer. Files must be complete by June. The scholarship committee meets in mid-August to determine the awards and notification and checks are sent in September.

6. How can I request an application?
You can email us or call The Fund at 774.430.9090 ext. 1108.

7. Do I need to complete any financial forms?
Yes. All applicants seeking a financial award must complete both the “FAFSA” and the CSS/Profile.

8. How do I complete the financial forms?
The easiest way to file these forms is “online.”

For the FAFSA – first-time filers must first apply for a U.S. Department of Education PIN by visiting www.pin.ed.gov . If you have previously filed a FAFSA, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov . The Ouimet Fund does not have a code number for the FAFSA. A few days after filing your FAFSA you must go back online and access your SAR (Student Aid Report) , print it out and send to Marion Mackerwicz, Controller. Your SAR will provide us with your EFC (Effective Family Contribution) that is necessary in our calculations. For questions pertaining to your FAFSA call 1-800-801-0576 .

For the CSS/Profile – go to www.collegeboard.com . There is a fee involved however; it costs $2 less if you complete the on-line version. The Ouimet Fund Code No. 0467 must be used. For questions pertaining to your CSS/Profile call 1.800.778.6888.

9. I prefer to file the paper version. Where can I get them?
The Ouimet Fund receives a limited supply of the CSS/Profile. However, most high school guidance offices have both the CSS/Profile and the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid) forms as well as public libraries.

10. The school I am attending does not require the CSS/Profile. Do I still need to complete this financial form?
YES. All applicants seeking a financial award must complete both the FAFSA and the CSS/Profile.
