The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund announced it will award a record $1.3 Million in Scholarships to its scholars in the 2007-2008 academic year. The Fund has set a new scholarship record 16 of the last 17 years and the $1.3 Million represents a 13% increase from the previous year, up from $1.15 Million. The Ouimet Fund was founded in 1949 and awarded a total of $4,600 that year. In The Fund’s 59 year history, more than 4,400 students have received over $17.7 Million.  This year’s Ouimet Scholars are comprised of 265 certified financial scholars, as well as 71 honorary scholars who do not qualify for financial assistance and therefore do not receive a financial award.

The Ouimet Scholarship
The Ouimet Scholarship is a renewable, need and merit based, competitive undergraduate scholarship. Ouimet scholarships range from $1,500 to $7,500 per year, depending on financial need and ranking in our competitive evaluation process. The value of the award over four years can be $10,000 to $20,000 or more.
To be eligible for a Ouimet Scholarship applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts.

Off-course driving range, miniature golf, or country club dining room, kitchen, office, pool or tennis employees.

Applications: To request an application package complete this form or contact The Fund office at 774.430.9090 in midsummer to be put on an application mailing list for awards for the following school year. Application packages are mailed in from early summer up to mid November. Applicants must submit recommendations from a guidance counselor and three club officials, complete an essay, be interviewed, and submit official grade transcripts and various official (FAFSA & CSS/Profile) financial data.
