This award was established in 2003 by gifts from Bud and Pat Roche, and added to in 2004 by proceeds of the Sprit of Golf event at Wellesley Country Club in which the Roche family were honored for their many charitable and community involvements. The Roche Family Scholarship is for an inner-city Ouimet Scholar.
The Roche Brothers 2009-2010 annual scholarship winner is James Ennis of Roslindale. James is a fine, hard working young man who did his service to golf at both Wampatuck Country Club where he worked in outside operations for two years and the George Wright Golf Club where he was enrolled in the caddie scholar program for 5 years. James is a junior at UMass - Boston and is majoring in Pre-Med. After graduation he would like to go to medical school and he has aspirations of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Over the next few months we will be highlighting our various Endowed Scholarships, giving you a glimpse into who created them, and what scholars are recipients for 2010.
