The Heritage Scholarship was the Ouimet Fund’s first inner-city scholarship and it has spawned eight inner-city endowed scholarships within the Ouimet Fund since it was created in 2001. Heritage winners can come from Boston, Chelsea, Fall River, Holyoke, Lawrence, Lowell, New Bedford, Somerville, Springfield, and Worcester.
Our Heritage winner this year is Theodore Smith. Theodore is a sophomore at Quinsigamond Community College with a 3.5 GPA. He’s a good student who loves to be involved with various clubs such as the Minority Achievers program, the Martin Luther King Committee, and the National Society of Black Engineers. Theodore did his service to golf at Worcester Country Club where he was a caddie for four years, and while in high school was a standout football and basketball player who also enjoyed the game of golf. He caddied in the Tiger Woods ProAm group at this year’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
