Dick Connolly and his family established this award in 1998. Mr. Connolly is a Ouimet Scholarship Alumnus and former Ouimet President who is now a Director and Trustee and has been Chairman of the Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament for over 30 years. The Ouimet Fund’s Distinguished Service Award is named after Mr. Connolly and is presented each year at the Annual Banquet.
Our 2009-2010 Connolly Family Scholarship winner this year is Doyle Murphy of Worcester who just finished his seventh year of service to golf as a caddie and bag room attendee at Worcester Country Club. Doyle is a junior at The College of the Holy Cross where he is majoring in Economics with a 3.2 GPA. He is very active on campus with activities such as the Pre-Business program, intramural sports, and Student Programs for Urban Development. He has also won the Eddie Lowery Award for best caddie two years in a row.
