The Casson Family Scholarship was established in 2006 by Harold and Mary Lou Casson in honor of Harold’s late parents, Harold, Sr. and Eleanor, and late brothers, Allan and Samuel Casson. Allan Casson was a University of Southern California Professor of English Emeritus. He spent 45 years on the USC faculty and taught 35 different courses, and was honored several times as the university’s top professor. He died in 2005. Samuel Casson graduated from USC, produced and directed theatrical productions at USC, taught bridge, and was an authority in grand opera. He died in 2006. The Casson Family Scholarship is for a Ouimet Scholar from one of the eight clubs that make up the Boston Summer Twi-League. The Casson family has been long time members of Oakley Country Club.
The 2009-2010 winner of the Casson Family Scholarship is Chris Crugnale who performed his service to golf at Oakley Country Club for eight years in the bag room. Chris is a sophomore at Bryant University. After graduation he would like to obtain a career in business .
