John D. Mineck Caddie Scholarship Announced by Ouimet Fund
The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund and the John D. Mineck Foundation announced today the establishment of a John D. Mineck Caddie Scholarship in memory of the late founder of the Boston Golf Club. The announcement was made at the Second Annual John D. Mineck Foundation Invitational at Boston Golf Club.
The John D. Mineck Caddie Scholarship will be a permanently endowed Ouimet Fund award which will be restricted to caddies from the Boston Golf Club.
“John grew up as a caddie and loved the walking traditions of the game,” said Rob Ketterson, President of the John D. Mineck Scholarship Fund. “The Mineck Foundation is delighted to have his name associated with the Ouimet Fund and its role in preserving the tradition of caddies and helping young people with their education in this special way.”
“Mr. Mineck was a great friend of the game and caddies, and a visionary in his thoughts in establishing the Boston Golf Club. We are honored that the Mineck Foundation has partnered with us on this wonderful endowed award,” said Ted Highberger, President of the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund.
“Mr. Mineck’s passion for golf – as a game, a code of ethics, and a resource for the development of life skills – was reflected in his giving. The John D. Mineck Foundation was established in the spirit of Mr. Mineck’s beliefs in serving and providing monetary support for causes that make big differences in individual lives,” said Mr. Ketterson.
Boston Golf Club was designed by Gil Hanse and opened in 2005 has been one of the most highly acclaimed new courses in New England.
