The Ouimet Society outings in full swing!
Brae Burn Country Club, Monday, July 20th -
West Newton, MA
While much of the summer of 2009 has been filled with rain, the Ouimet Society has managed to stay dry so far through two successful outings, the most recent at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton. Approximately 100 Ouimet Society Members, Ouimet Directors, sponsors and friends gathered at the storied course for 18 holes of golf and a reception. Players were treated to a magnificent day on one of the finest courses in the state, raised money for The Fund, and were able to gather afterwards to commiserate about the past and hear from the future.

Two Brae Burn scholars, Eric King and Matt Trachy, spoke to the crowd about the Ouimet Fund and how it has helped them achieve goals they thought were out of reach. King attends the University of Pennsylvania and will graduate in 2011, while Trachy, an honorary scholar (no financial scholarship), attends Holy Cross and will graduate in 2012. Both gave tremendous speeches and are an indicator of the type of students that the Ouimet Fund helps.

Wife/Mixed Scheft Trophy division. Continuing their dominant play, the pair of Kyle and Ryan Pelletier from Acushnet River Valley carried their team to victory with a 7-under 65 to win the Gross Foursome division. This time they had their dad David and family friend Tom Boggs along for the ride, making this their third Ouimet Society Gross division win in the past 10 months. Taking home the net prize was the team of Steve Leonard, Peter Donovan, and Mark and Matt Trachy of Brae Burn with a net score of 20-under 52.

In the Husband and Wife/Mixed Division there was some great golf played. Harri Rosenberg and Peter Kuchinsky of Charter Oak shot a 79 to take home the top Gross prize and have their names etched into the Scheft Trophy. Dick and Kathy Reilly of Brae Burn used their course knowledge to shoot a 5-under 67 to capture the Net Division and also have their names enshrined on the Scheft Trophy.
This was the second of three Ouimet Society events for 2009. The third and final event is our NEPGA ProAm on Monday, October 5th at The Golf Club of Cape Cod in
