Ouimet Society 40th Anniversary Year Wraps Up in Falmouth
The Francis Ouimet Society enjoyed a stellar 40th Anniversary year, and the third and final outing was no different as 130 players gathered at the nationally acclaimed Golf Club of Cape Cod in Falmouth, MA for the 11th Annual NEPGA ProAm.

The picturesque fall day was enjoyed by all in attendance, who were treated to lunch, 18 holes of golf on a championship course, dinner and a reception. This event is always a favorite on the Ouimet outing calendar, as it brings together over 100 amateurs and 25 NEPGA Professionals from around the state, representing some of the Ouimet Fund’s most supportive clubs.
The Golf Club of Cape Cod was recently ranked in the top 5 Best New Courses in the U.S. It certainly proved its worth as players were raving about the conditions and layout of the golf course. While the course was playing very tough, the scores did not reflect it as the 1 Best Ball of 5 scores came in very low. The team of Ken Duane, Henry Katz, Kevin Delbridge, Dan Magaletta and TGCCC Pro Scott Masse shot a 57 Net to take top honors and have their names engraved on the Donald P. MacMillan trophy. Completing their 2009 sweep of the gross division were brothers Ryan and Kyle Pelletier, along with their dad David, and Professional Sean Cahalane with a 6-under 66. Team Pelletier plays out of Acushnet River Valley, while Cahalane plays out of The Captains in Brewster. In our closest to the pin contest, Kevin Delbridge of TGCCC edged out a fellow competitor who had already hit it to 14 inches, by hitting his shot to 4 inches and nearly making a hole in one! All in all it was an exciting day of golf!
After golf, the crowd was introduced to a scholar by the name of Maeghan Kilfoil, a junior at Stonehill College majoring in Health Care Administration. Maeghan spoke to the crowd of how the Ouimet Fund has helped her achieve goals that she didn’t think were possible. Because of The Fund, she is able to concentrate on her school work and extracurricular activities, instead of having to work extra jobs to make tuition. Maeghan participated in the Dale Carnegie training class last summer, and was recognized as the top scholar in her class.
The Ouimet Fund would like to thank all Ouimet Society Lifetime and Annual Members, and all of those who participated in the outings this year. 2010 Ouimet Society outing dates and sites have not been determined yet, but be on the lookout for those in the coming months!
