How to Give

Many individuals, corporations, foundations, and golf organizations support the Ouimet Fund through a number of donation programs.

MAKE A DONATION >>

General Contributions The Fund welcomes all general contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations or golf organizations. All are acknowledged and are fully tax-deductible.
Memorial Donations Every year more and more families select the Ouimet Fund to receive donations when a loved one passes away.  The Fund acknowledges each contribution, summarizes the gifts and provides a list of contributors for the family.
In-Kind Donations Many individuals, corporations, and golf organizations provide in-kind donations of merchandise prizes, trips, computer or office equipment, or services each year which the Ouimet Fund uses in conjunction with various events and projects.  These donations are tax-deductible.
Special Events Each year several organizations conduct special tournaments, raffles or contests in which the Ouimet Fund is the beneficiary of proceeds.  Please contact The Fund for information.
Wills & Estates/*IRAs Over the years, many individuals who have been deeply involved in golf have chosen to give back to the game through their estate by naming the Ouimet Fund as a beneficiary in their will through the Eddie Lowery Planned Giving ProgramMany have also set up foundations that will give to the Ouimet Fund on a regular basis.

The IRA Charitable Rollover allows individuals age 70 ½ and older to make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to 501(c)(3) organizations, such as the Ouimet Fund without having to count the transfers as income for federal income purposes. See below for more information.

Foundations The Ouimet Fund has worked with several foundations developing grant programs to support special Ouimet programs, such as our inner-city scholarships.  Please contact The Fund for information.
Sponsorships The Ouimet Fund has available a number of sponsorship programs through which corporations may sponsor key events or programs.
Corporate Programs The Ouimet Fund offers sponsorship, general donation, and Ouimet Society corporate membership programs through which corporations can entertain clients, support youth, and contribute to a qualified 501(c)(3) organization.  The Fund can also tailor special programs.
Matching Donations The Ouimet Fund is eligible for many forms of company or foundation matching grants or donations and will gladly complete applications for those awards.

*On December 18, 2016, Congress has extended the IRA Charitable Rollover for 2016 and beyond.  This extension allows individuals 70 ½ or older to donate up to $100,000 tax-free from their IRA to the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund.

To take advantage of this opportunity in 2017 and beyond, here is how to qualify:

  • You must be age 70½ or older on the day of the gift
  • You can transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to one or more qualified charities. This opportunity applies to traditional IRAs or Roth IRAs only and not to other types of retirement plans.
  • You pay no income tax on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.
  • The gift can satisfy all or part of the required minimum distribution for the year.
  • If you already made a gift of up to $100,000 directly from an IRA in 2017, the gift will qualify under the new law.

How to make such a gift:

  • Your IRA assets, up to $100,000, must be transferred directly to the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund. To do this, contact your IRA plan administrator who must transfer funds directly to The Fund.  We are happy to help facilitate the transfer!

Make sure to check with your financial or tax adviser to confirm you are eligible to take advantage of this tax-free opportunity.  Thank you for your support!
